Hi! If you're reading this post, it means that you have taken some time to give my application a chance and I sincerely thank you for that.

If you continue reading (and I hope you do), I want to tell you about myself. Why I applied for the job, what I am currently doing in my life, a short recap on my experiences and the things you can expect from me if you hopefully consider me to work with you. I'm not very good with conversations so I resort to writing my thoughts instead. I hope that with this, you'd get to know me better.

My name is Nneka. A bit odd on the spelling, right? You probably are unsure how it's pronounced. Some people call me /Neka/ — soft and easy; a name you could easily call. While others also call me /Nika/ - with force and determination. While my name isn't uncommon or does not have the creative element of launching a brand, my favorite part of it is the freedom of letting others choose how to call me. The two ways you can pronounce my name also describes the personalities I have with me. I can be soft and easy going, and I could also be hardworking and determined.

I graduated with a degree in Mass Communications and on our college years, I got to learn skills which I used later on to land jobs. I am a writer, a bit more on the literary side, which I think is a product of my love for fictions and stories. I wrote scripts for our Film class, directed music videos, advertisements and short films and got to learn basic editing right after. I did voice-overs and graphic design, managed a social media page and also did a bit of marketing and promotion. Our course was designed to produce jack-of-all trades after graduation. And with these, I landed a TV Segment Producer at a regional broadcast station as my first job.

With my stint as a segment producer, I wrote scripts, shot and edited our episodes, interviewed people and featured small businesses and local tourist destinations. It was challenging and tough but my superiors assured me that I did a great job at it. l love travelling. I love writing. And this job gave me the best of both worlds.

But after two years, I left it for a more stable job. And that's how I became a government employee.

At the moment I am working at a government hospital in Davao City, Philippines. I have been an administrative assistant assigned at the Information and Complaints Desk for 5 years already. With that, I had my fair share of experience in dealing with people from all walks of life and the right amount of patience to still be working with a smile — even if the clients could be a wee bit difficult at times. I still love my job, however, I felt like the 5 years of working turned me into a zombie; I realized I needed a breath of fresh air.

To be completely honest, I applied for this job mainly because I needed another source of income. I've been wanting to shifting into a career that allows me to work remotely so I could get back to travelling, writing and reading more books but for now, I'm just looking for somewhere to start.

But more than that, I wanted to explore and learn new things. To experience working with new people, to be challenged, to bring my skills out in the game once again.

You would be taking a chance if you hire me, as I need all the help and assistance I could get to be able to help you.

In business, you take that one calculated risk and then the rest is history. Let me be that calculated risk and prove you that being “novice” isn’t a problem. Like the proverbial half empty/half full glass. I am half full - equipped enough but teachable to be filled up.

Rest assured that I am trustworthy, learns fast, works hard and does my best to maintain a good relationship with you - I can be a friend and an employee you can rely on.

I want to end by saying thank you, again, for taking time to read this. In a sea of applications and hopeful applicants praying to land a job, you have given me your precious time and listened to my story. With this, I am truly grateful.
